The brief
In order to cut the loading times of their web pages, Mobica needed the help of The Marketing Pod’s expert Digital team with a large number of images on their website. The images needed to be compressed and sized correctly for the user. Pagespeed is becoming an increasingly important part of search engine algorithms, and is a key part of growing organic traffic and rankings, increasing user engagement and experience, and is more likely to lead to a conversion.
Our approach
Our Digital team used proven tools to establish the images which were causing speed issues and isolated them. They then set about replacing JPG and PNG files with WebP images. This technique allowed the trouble-causing files to be compressed and optimised correctly for the web.
We took this approach because the image loading time can be the difference between a page loading quickly or not – a good user experience or a bad one – so it was essential to ensure images were served at the correct size.
The results
After implementing the image changes, the largest contentful paint (LCP) – a measurement of how quickly a webpage loads – for the Mobica website dropped from an average of 7.1 seconds in May 2023 to just 2.6 seconds in July 2023; an incredible 60% faster.
This result passes Core Web Vitals – something just 30% of websites achieve, making it crucial to prioritise when fixing speed issues on a webpage.
