The Marketing Pod (Pod for short) is a B2B specialist marketing agency. We’re based just outside Birmingham in the green and pleasant lands of the Umberslade Estate. A cheerful and supportive team of 40, each with our own specialisms, we are now looking for a content and PR writer, for a 12 month FTC beginning in early April 2025.
The person we are seeking will be interested in B2B tech or clean energy, keen to work for a business that takes its ethical and environmental responsibilities seriously, and passionate about making a positive difference. The role
The role will be based at our office on Pound House Lane, Solihull, B94 5DF, with hybrid working available. Monthly attendance at Pod HQ is required as a minimum. Weekly attendance is expected for all team members but increased flexibility is available depending on circumstances.
Pod’s Content and PR team is one of five ‘Centres of Excellence’ which allow our agency to provide clients with senior specialists across content, PR, design, digital and consultancy. We collaborate closely with all other delivery teams, as well as our dedicated client services team (CST). We are also client facing, providing clients with the opportunity to speak directly with the experts that are involved with their projects.
We believe that Content and PR are closely connected and complementary marketing specialisms. Our ideal candidate will be someone that can provide writing skills and creative thinking across both, with guidance and support from our senior Content and PR specialists.
You will be responsible for:
- Delivering a variety of written content across the Pod’s full client portfolio as well as for the Pod, including a range of short and long-form content, from editorial, blogs and white papers to scripts for video and podcasts, social media posts, ads, infographics and reactive comments, in line with brand tone of voice. It may also include client or internal presentations.
- Researching key topics (through desk top research and expert interviews) to collate the background information for written content;
- Building media lists and conducting forward feature research and planning;
- Supporting with event and award research, to facilitate the creation of PR and content strategies, for clients and for Pod;
- Proofreading and editing copy across a range of materials;
- Supporting with brief scoping and creation as required;
- Attending in person and virtual client meetings or interviewing subject matter experts as required;
- Liaising closely with all of the Pod’s delivery teams, to make sure delivered content meets the brief and client objectives. This includes providing design direction on content assets, and quality assurance on web content;
- Staying up to date with trending topics for clients and across the B2B marketing/copywriting space.

Skills and experience
- An understanding of brand voice and copywriting best practice
- >3 years experience in a B2B/Technical writing role
- An understanding of writing for SEO
- Excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Bonus knowledge and experience
- Energy, utilities or regulated services marketing experience
- Experience of using Semrush
- Experience of using Meltwater
- Experience of Monday.com and Harvest
- An understanding of writing for GEO.
