The Marketing Pod (Pod for short) is a B2B specialist marketing agency. We’re based just outside Birmingham in the green and pleasant lands of the Umberslade Estate. A cheerful and supportive team of 40, each with our own specialisms, we are now looking for a Client Services Team Account Director to cover maternity leave.
The person we are seeking will be interested in B2B tech or clean energy, keen to work for a business that takes its ethical and environmental responsibilities seriously, and passionate about making a positive difference. The role
The role will be based at our office on Pound House Lane, Solihull, B94 5DF, with hybrid working available. Monthly attendance at Pod HQ is required as a minimum. Weekly attendance is expected for all team members
Increased flexibility is available depending on circumstances.
As a senior client lead at Pod, you’ll own a portfolio of key accounts and act as a trusted strategic partner to your clients. You’ll lead client strategy, delivery, and commercial performance, ensuring work is high quality, commercially sound, and delivers meaningful results.
You’ll be the first of contact for your clients, visiting them on site, setting direction, guiding delivery teams, and helping evolve Pod’s service offering as the business grows.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Acting as the senior, day-to-day point of contact for assigned clients, building trusted, long-term relationships
- Leading account planning aligned to client and business objectives
- Owning end-to-end delivery of client marketing activity, ensuring work is delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard
- Ensuring all recommendations are grounded in best practice, industry insight, and Pod’s specialist expertise
- Managing client budgets, forecasting revenue, and contributing to the commercial performance of your practice
- Identifying opportunities to grow existing accounts and supporting new business activity where required
- Leading client meetings, reviews, and presentations, clearly communicating performance, insight, and next steps
- Acting as the link between clients and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and smooth delivery
- Line managing and mentoring Account Managers and Account Executives, supporting their development and performance
- Championing Pod’s processes, standards, and customer-first mindset across all accounts
Key Skills
Skills and experience
- Proven experience leading senior client relationships in an agency or consultancy environment
- Experience supporting and delivering client strategies aligned to business objectives
- Strong delivery experience across multi-channel marketing activity
- Confidence leading client meetings, reviews, and presentations
- Experience managing budgets, forecasting revenue, and driving profitability
- Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage complex workloads
- Experience line managing or mentoring team members
- Strong organisational skills, with experience running WIPs, reporting, and delivery processes
Bonus knowledge and experience
- Experience working with non-commodity or highly regulated industries, particularly utilities, energy, or infrastructure sectors
- Understanding of complex, regulated markets and long-term customer relationship models
- Formal marketing qualifications, such as a marketing degree or professional certifications (e.g. CIM, DMI, or equivalent)
- Experience delivering digital projects, including website builds or digital transformation initiatives
- Experience working on CRM projects, including customer lifecycle planning, CRM implementation, or optimisation
