On March 16, 2026, HubSpot will sunset its legacy standard sandboxes. If you are currently using a legacy sandbox, this guide explains what changes to expect and the benefits they bring. It will provide steps on how to prepare and what actions users should take to ensure a smooth transition.
HubSpot’s sandboxes provide what many of us would appreciate in life – a test run! Sandboxes are a safe space to ensure everything is working as it should before you go live in your main account. They are a useful tool to test changes, such as complex integrations, new sales pipelines or website redesigns, without risking your live data or customer experience.
In December 2025, HubSpot introduced an improved Standard Sandbox. The new standard sandbox is still a private safe zone for testing changes, but now includes:
To support this upgrade, HubSpot will sunset its legacy standard sandboxes on 16th March 2026. After this date, access to your legacy sandboxes will be lost and only the new standard sandbox will be supported. The sandbox limit will also be temporarily increased to facilitate the migration.
HubSpot has addressed some limitations of its legacy sandbox by improving tracking changes for safe and predictable deployments to production. These enhancements also:
Our HubSpot expert, Alexander Costello, explains: “It’s particularly pleasing to see the new Deploy to Production feature for supported assets. With this feature, there is no longer a need to manually rebuild supported assets once testing is complete.”
HubSpot has also removed its resync feature. While useful, HubSpot noted it has led to instability in sandbox development. By removing the resync feature, HubSpot hopes it can eliminate unnecessary risks to work and maintain sandboxes as clean, consistent environments that you can trust.
There’s plenty of time to migrate legacy sandboxes before they become unsupported in March. Although most HubSpot customers using the sandbox environment (which we hope is everyone with a live environment) will be affected, HubSpot expects the impact to be minimal if properly done – and we agree.
Alexander recommends: “Users should make sure they plan for these changes as soon as possible. Don’t leave it to the last minute.”
For those using external systems and apps, a deeper review may be needed to keep things working as they should.
As a HubSpot Platinum Solutions Partner, our team is up to speed on all the changes HubSpot makes to their platform. We have started planning the migration process with our clients and are here to support businesses with HubSpot sandbox setup, migration and validation ahead of the deadline.
